Watchmen is currently #43 on my flickchart list.
Though much maligned by comic book fans and movie fans alike, I really liked the film. I went to see it on my own. It didn't have the build up The Avengers (#3) had for me, but it did have a lot to live up to. That being said, I really felt it delivered.
And the opening credits (NSFW: violence) are second to none...they set the tone and give so many nods to fans of the original limited series:

I haven't seen the movie but, as you know, I love the book. I recently started a series with a strong Watchmen influence. Have you read Rising Stars?
