  2. I highly recommend the biography "Ted Williams" by Leigh Montville. He was a complicated character, to say the least - one of the least-liked superstars in baseball history. He had notoriously bad relationships with certain sports writers, too. Add to that a gift for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and the man was a PR nightmare.

    There's plenty of good in the book, too. In fact, that's why I like it. He is presented as a genuinely multi-dimensional man.
