Film Festival Friday, December 28, 2012
I had a longer post prepared for this in my head. However, the need to clear the driveway every few hours as well as pack for a trip this weekend has cut down on my time!
I also have not watched as many movies as I thought I would this break. The biggie, however, was seeing Jack Reacher last Saturday with my three cousins (we think the last movie we all saw together was Return of the Jedi in 1983!)
Subbing in for my absent brother was The Armchair Squid. He missed lunch (which was packed with shared recollections and a whole lot of Reacher talk) but met us at the theater. He has not read any of the books while the rest of us had. He claims there was a lot of giggling and chatter among the four of us.
All in all we agreed it was a good movie and Tom Cruise did a fine job. We are eager for more!!

Winter Storm Euclid
I'm not sure when we started naming winter storms....nor am I sure when weather started delineating between regular storms and "super" storms...
Either way, this year's version of Snowmageddon, Snowpocalypse, Snowzilla or whatever it is called is on its way as I type this...I'm up there by the left side of the dash between the 12" and 16" prediction...
It's fine with me, as I never really got to test out the new snowblower last year and this won't result in a snow day, so no extra days tacked on at the end of the year...and it MIGHT actually "cancel" a planning meeting we set up at school for tomorrow, so it would be comics and beer all day long!!

Birthday Milestones
I think the only reason I understood the references on this past week's SNL was because it could've aired when I was a teen in the 80s! Martin Short and Paul McCartney....
I've also joked with my students recently about another joke I saw online....that if any of them live to be 100 and get interviewed by their local paper, they MUST make up some INSANE thing they attribute their longevity to...."I woke up every day at 4:30 and mewed like a cat for 20 minutes!" or "Once I turned 50, I ate 3 pinecones a day!". It was a fun conversation!

Up, up, and away...
I see the name "Adam Thompson" on the bottom, but I am not sure where I found this.

12-12-12
I am a geek for numbers, so today's date does intrigue me. To "celebrate", here are 12* comics I own....that are #12 in their series!
*I know there are WAY more than 12 covers here....I started this post last weekend. I had planned to narrow this down before publishing it and time got away from me! As it is, I am writing this footnote a full day late!!

Lazy Weekend
Last night I donated some comics to our local Goodwill. It frees up some much needed space in my file cabinets, nets me some bags & boards for new books and will possibly help us out at tax time. Here is a sampling of what has left....nothing too phenomenal but it makes me feel good...
All 52 issues...kept my duplicates of issue #1 and #11. |
All of this series except #4...couldn't find it anywhere! |
Issues 1-4...it intrigued me when advertised but I don't even remember reading it! |
I found these three while looking for the missing issue of Countdown. Looking at my software tells me I got them as part of a lot of 118 books I bought on eBay in 2005 for about $8.00!
I also found this....I think it was a mini-series I just never followed up on.... |
So like I said, I can feel good about the donation, the tax credit, extra space and some bags and boards...But it gave me the itch to dig into the software and file cabinets and find things I WANT to read again!
